The Hot Dang is giving away stickers in support of Pride Month!

Happy Pride Month! Pride month has never come at a better time than now. For the first time, a President of the United States has come out in support of the gay and lesbian community.  The world seems to be changing and growing and it is of great importance to the Hot Dang to show our support and love for the LGBT community and ally ourselves with equality.
Pride month is a tradition that started in order to commemorate the Stonewall Riots. This moment in history is important, but at the Hot Dang would like to look toward the future instead of to the past. In regards to Pride Month, President Obama said, “Every generation of Americans has brought our Nation closer to fulfilling its promise of equality. While progress has taken time, our achievements in advancing the rights of LGBT Americans remind us that history is on our side, and that the American people will never stop striving toward liberty and justice for all.” Owner of the Hot Dang, Martha Pincoffs, likes to say something similar. When she speaks about LGBT rights she frequently reiterates her firm belief that this is the generation of Americans who will finally resolve the disparities between the heterosexual community and the LGBT community. The Hot Dang, as a company, is based off the idea of living responsibly and being conscious of the products you buy as welll as the ideaology that you buy into.
This Pride Month we are providing stickers in all of our retail boxes to help each of our customers create safe spaces in their lives. The stickers can be found inside any retail box for the entire month of June and read “This is a safe space, you guys.”
The stickers are sold by a company called Everyone is Gay at Dannielle Owens-Reid and Kristin Russo, the founders of Everyone is Gay, believe that we shouldn’t have to wait for the world to get better, because we can make it better. The Hot Dang supports this message and looks forward to a bright future of equality.

Grain Not Veggie

The HOT DANG is a grain burger. Firstly, it is made out of grains. Organic Texmati brown rice, organic pearled barley, and organic wild rice are the main ingredients. Add organic rolled oats, organic cashews, farm eggs, hot mustard and sea salt and there you have the HOT DANG. Secondly, the HOT DANG isn’t made up of veggies or texturized vegetable protein. Most meatless burgers these days are based on heavily processed soy, that is the texturized vegetable protein that you see on the ingredients label. Here’s my beef with that: it isn’t a good thing to consume anything so intensely processed, those calories are empty, because machines take away the most nutritious parts of the food. Our bodies want to work through the food we eat, that is how we get our energy and all of the nutrients. It is the healthier way. Click here for a more in depth article about processed soy and here for one on eating whole foods. Enter here the grain burger. It is positively loaded with fiber, protein and good fats that I keep as close to their natural state as possible, so your body needs to do the good work of breaking these proteins and fibers down.

Another beneficial effect of the grain burger is texture. There is a really nice texture to the HOT DANG that is hard to find when eating other veggie burgers. This sucker has a really great crunch to it when you pan fry it and even when cooked on the grill (or the microwave) doesn’t get that soggy, mushy texture. I attribute this quality to the whole grains and the cashews. All of the ingredients come together to make a truly delicious grain burger that is good for you to boot.

I know that I feel full and good when I eat the HOT DANG (and I eat a lot of them)! I think that you will feel this difference too!

Marketing is fun!!!

Here are a couple of pictures of the final box, the one you will see in stores. Soon to follow will be new flavors, new colors, t-shirts, stickers, hats, marketing is fun!!!
